Introducing – “Momma Coop”
About Lisa – author of Momma Coop’s Sandwich Life
I am excited to introduce myself,, my name is Lisa. It’s a pleasure to me you, Welcome!
I’ve reached the sandwich life sooner than expected, learning to navigate each day as it comes. Teaching myself new skills at this stage in life, can be met with road blocks and is challenging at best.
What skills you may ask?
- How to interact with my adult children?
- Settling into the good life with my husband?
- Communicating with my aging parents,
- Learning how to be a LaLa (grandma)?
Celebrating life everyday & being thankful that we have made it this far…
Tim and I began dating a year after I finished high school, met at Nashua Photo on midnight shift. Married about a year later, celebrating 37 years this August, Yay us! Had our first baby a month before our second anniversary, and that’s how the story goes. Life on the fast track, no looking back! Who were those two kids?
Together we raised three children, now happy adults. To watch them grow and figure out who they are has been my greatest joy. Individually each one is learning to navigate new roles and living life to the fullest. Motherhood is a not a given, it’s a blessing that I do not take for granted. It is a joy no one could have ever explained to me. You know the saying, “Don’t blink”, which as mom’s we never quite believe, until it hits us in the face! By goodness, it’s no lie!!
My primary focus has been to create a happy home for my family, while keeping the bills paid and everyone fed, including the dog. I’m still trying to figure that out, there is no magic wand. Just an abundance of patience, tears, hugs, forgiveness, and new mornings.
It’s blowing my mind to be celebrating “57” so soon, life sure isn’t slow, easy, or a given. Blogging has been on my heart for a few years now, fear and self doubt has kept me from starting. I’m reaching back to that self confident “22” year old girl, who took everything in stride. Celebrating life and being thankful I had made it through one more day.
My goal is to bring you more details and background stories of our life as my blog develops. I hope you will walk beside me as a friend and cheerleader.
What is the purpose of “Momma Coop’s Sandwich Life” Blog?
I have always been drawn to nurture, care and provide for my family and others. Driven to a fault at times, just pushing and not looking back, often so I wouldn’t fall apart in the process. For some reason, my mind keeps coming back to put it out there for others to follow.
I hope you join me in learning to navigate this new stage in life. I believe through this blog I can offer you personal examples of a no nonsense approach to everyday issues. Or perhaps offer you a sense of reassurance that we are all walking the same path, foraging through life the best we can.
Many of us wear different size shoes while walking that path, but I bet most of us have worn a similar size at some point in our lives. How we see those shoes on others will lead us to a sense of well being and happiness, giving us a sense of belonging when we need it most. May we always try our best to give grace or at least fake it until God steps in and says “knock it off, ease up and keep on walking”.
Come walk with me down memory lane, through old family recipes. It’s funny how I can pull out an old cookbook, and be so drawn in by the feeling of peace and happiness. It’s my belief that if we take that moment and enjoy it to the fullest. life can be renewed, giving us strength to move forward. God is giving me a nudge to rest in that warm. Learning to be still and enjoy it is something I am relearning in this sandwich life season.
Join me while I share family recipes new and old, together we can unlock your memories of the past. Each of us can celebrate everyday life and be thankful we have made it this far.
Why the name “Momma Coop’s Sandwich Life”?
The “sandwich generation” by definition refers to middle aged adults like me, most of whom are in their 40 and 50’s who care for or are at the beginning stages of caring for aging parents. All while having adult children returning to the family home for extended periods of time. Often most of us experience high levels of stress and exhaustion, trying to fill both roles.
I am by no means an expert, I can only share what my experiences have been thus far.
So join me in this new chapter, together we can figure out how to survive it along the way. Let’s celebrate everyday life and be thankful we have made it this far.
